The same kind person that lets me use her scanner to put old sketches like this one onto the interweb also gave me a little eraser (pictured below).

A strange experiement i conducted in Japan (mostly) with various reflective surfaces. Most of them didn’t turn out so well but some of them came out okay. Well, at least well enough to post it to a blog.

The Great Camping Caper 2

Posted by Lucía Fri, 07 Jul 2006 07:33:00 GMT

A harrowing tale of pre-July 4th weekend camping on the Mendocino coast.

approximation of campsite

Evelyn and Vincent organized a camping trip. Jun-Dai and I took the opportunity to escape the oppressive San Francisco fog and bask in the comparatively wimpy Mendocino fog. On Saturday, nine of us formed a caravan from the East Bay up to “Jean Claude” Van Damme State Park. On Monday, only seven of us returned.

What caused the disappearance of Marie and Jon from our ranks? (Suggestions follow. Feel free to sleuth the true answer for yourself.)

  • They were disgusted that the camp had free wifi, so they wandered off to find the real wilderness.
  • An overly-friendly park ranger took them for a joyride in a vintage car.
  • Charred meat overload.
  • The five-hour hike.

The pygmy forest at the end of the hike was not all that I hoped it would be, but once I had wiped away my tears of disappointment, I was able to enjoy the sight of plant-midgets. I felt a certain sympathy for them, as they had evolved to be teeny due to malnutrition.
